Salve ragazzi,
ho una configurazione dual-monitor sul mio desktop che monta una scheda madre ASUS ed una video della ATI, per la quale utilizzo driver open.
Il primo monitor, correttamente funzionante, va sull'ingresso DVI. Il secondo monitor si connette alla porta HDMI tramite un adattatore VGA+HDMI, dato che la scheda video non ha altre porte DVI ed il secondo monitor ha solo ingressi DVI e VGA.
Il secondo monitor non viene riconosciuto e rimane sempre in stand-by ma lo stesso monitor con lo stesso adattatore, viene correttamente riconosciuto se lo attacco al mio laptop VAIO, sempre con Arch come OS.

Potreste aiutarmi?

posta l'output di xrandr col monitor collegato prima sul Vaio e poi sul desktop.

Ho provato con una live di Lubuntu e l'uscita HDMI viene sempre rilevata come non connessa.
A questo punto ho il sospetto che non funzioni, in alternativa ho una uscita DisplayPort ma devo trovare un adattatore.
Come posso accertarmi che non sia un problema di driver o l'uscita HDMI effettivamente non funziona?

Update: ho anche attaccato un monitor con presa direttamente HMDI, senza adattatore e non viene riconosciuto.
Credo che provare i Catalyst sia una perdita di tempo, cosa consigliate?

Io invece ti consiglio proprio di provare al volo i catalyst, giusto per escludere un problema hardware della porta hdmi.

Update:
Anche con i Catalyst non rileva nulla.
Devo concluderne che non funziona o potrebbe andare sotto windows (magari sotto virtualbox)?
Ho due alternative: comprare una Nvidia economica (sui 70 €) o rischiare con un altro adattatore DisplayPort-VGA, non facile da trovare.
Consigli?

Provare win su virtualbox non penso serva a granchè. Cambiare adattatore nemmeno, visto che sul vaio funziona.
Hai qualche impostazione particolare in xorg.conf o xorg.conf.d/?

I file conf di Xorg sono quelli del Catalyst, visto che ancora non ho switchato di nuovo a quelli free.
In caso domani viro su una Nvidia perchè la configurazione a doppio monitor per me è molto importante.

Grazie per il supporto, ma l'uscita HDMI definitivamente non funzionava.
Ho virato su una Nvidia e adesso mi trovo benissimo!
