Strane cose dopo compilazione nuovo kernel

Ciao a tutti.
Ho appena compilato una versione personalizzata del kernel(aiutato dal wiki) e mi trovo in una stranissima situazione:
in pratica avviato per la prima volta il nuovo kernel va tutto a posto, carica senza messaggi di errore e il sistema si avvia correttamente.
Se però successivamente riavvio il sistema avviene una cosa molto strana: il monitor resta bloccato sulla schermata del bios senza poter fare niente.
Ho notato che se riesco ad entrare nel setup del bios velocemente e scelgo di far partire il boot manualmente dall'hard disk, come per magia si avviua grub e posso sceglire di nuovo un kernel da avviare.
Ora se scelgo di nuovo il kernel da me compilato, fa sempre lo stesso scherzetto (rimane bloccato sulla schermata iniziale del bios), mentre se riesco a fare il boot dalla versione del kernel originale di archlinux e poi riavvio il sistema come per magia il bios parte senza problemi e non resta più fermo nella schermata iniziale...
Ora spero che qualcuno mi sappia dare qualche indicazione almeno sul perchè di questa cosa!!

Non penso te ne farai molto della mia risposta, ma qui di idee nemmeno mezza ahaha
Proporrei di postare il log di boot del tuo kernel, e un everything.log relativo allo spegnimento del tuo kernel (dopo il riavvio successivo)...altro non me ne viene in mente, mi sembra un problema mooolto strano, a dir poco!
Ps: si dovrebbe fare un contest dei 10 problemi più strani, secondo me una medaglia potresti vincerla!

Poichè il log supera i 60000 caratteri il resto lo posto nel messaggio successivo.
In effetti è davvero un problema strano..spero che qualcuno riesca a darmi qualche indicazione su dove andare a mettere le mani per risolverlo.
Se non bastasse provo a salvare anche il file di log relativo allo spegnimento del kernel.

hai qualche periferica strana collegata tramite usb che possa generare qualche conflitto di interrupt nella memoria?

Non ho nessun dispositivo usb collegato.
La cosa che mi fa pensare è che tutto ciò si verifica solo se riavvio il sistema dopo essere entrato con il kernel da me compilato.E' come se questo creasse "confusione" nella fase di caricamento di grub dato che appunto resta impallato sulla schermata iniziale del bios.
Ma allo stesso tempo se imposto manualmente di avviare il boot da HD, allora grub viene caricato e posso avviare uno de 2 kernel(ed entrambi funzionano!).
E' davvero una strana situazione!

Si è davvero strano..mi sfugge proprio la logica attraverso la quale caricando un certo kernel, al riavvio successivo il bios non "vede" più automaticamente il master boot record(perchè è li che ci sono le informazione necessarie per caricare grub).Mentre se gli imposto manualmente di bootare da hard disk, va tutto liscio.
Che qualcuno mi illumini almeno sul perchè di questo strano fatto!

Provo ad azzardare una ipotesi.
Fantasiosa e difficile da dimostrare, ma plausibile.
Il tuo kernel personalizzato alla chiusura non libera correttamente tutte le risorse e quindi lascia qualcosa 'sporco'.
Il BIOS, forse per un bug, inciampa in quella 'sporcizia' e si blocca.
Non è detto che non trovi il MBR, perchè semplicemente si blocca senza fornire spiegazioni.
Se al riavvio passi dalla scelta della periferica, il BIOS fa un giro diverso e non inciampa.
Anch'io ho spesso litigato con i BIOS.
Attualmente, su un netbook, al riavvio talvolta mi resta in canna un 'invio' e quindi al primo menu tira dritto senza darmi la possibilità di scegliere; sul desktop, se lascio il sistema spento e la MB alimentata per molto tempo, poi il tasto power non mi funziona più.

Quello che dici sembra avere un senso in effetti.
La cosa che mi suona strana è come diavolo fa il kernel a lasciare sporcizia nel MBR?Ha il permesso di modificarlo?E a che scopo??
Mi sta vendendo in mente di provare a fare un dump del MBR prima e dopo il riavvio per vedere se ci sono differenze, ma non so se è una buona idea.
Spero in altre indicazioni!

E' difficile che il MBR sia 'sporcato'.
Se così fosse, la domanda successiva sarebbe: chi lo ripara ?
E' più probabile che la 'sporcizia' sia nell'elettronica del controller del disco che contiene il MBR.

E' più probabile che la 'sporcizia' sia nell'elettronica del controller del disco che contiene il MBR.
Ma allora la domanda è:perchè tale "sporcizia" viene rilevata e crea problemi solo se riavvio il pc dopo aver caricato un particolare kernel?E perchè con un altro kernel tale "sporcizia" non da alcun effetto?

Ho una scheda madre abbastanza datata, ma non ho mai avuto problemi. Non ho mai aggiornato il bios e googlando non ho trovato nuove versioni per la mia scheda madre. Perchè pensi sia una questione di aggiornare il bios?

In pratica ho solo ottimizzato la parte relativa al processore, per il resto ho lasciato invariato rispetto a una classica configurazione di un generico kernel.
