ciao a tutti!
sono da poco un utilizzatore di openbox e ho questo fastidioso problema. quando abbasso il coperchio del mio notebook, lo schermo non si spegne, anche se nelle impostazioni di gnome-power-manager, che utilizzo appunto per la gestione dell'alimentazione, ho esplicitamente detto di fare. inoltre nel campo "Quando la carica della batteria è critica" e in quello "Quando il pulsante di sospensione è premuto" non mi permette di scegliere alcun valore (il riquadro è grigio senza la possibilità di scelta alcuna).
sapete aiutarmi? grazie in anticipo! :)

In questo caso ti consiglio di configurarti a mano i tasti rapidi (compreso monitor) con obkey...io uso openbox e una volta configurato tutto va alla grande. gnome-power-manager non ti gestisce tutto ciò se usato da solo.

scusa, ho dato un'occhiata veloce a obkey, ma non mi pare mi possa servire per quello che ho chiesto. tra le opzioni possibili non ne vedo neanche una che mi permetta di spegnere il monitor sinceramente. mi potresti dare una mano?

ho modificato il mio "$HOME/.config/openbox/autostart.sh" mettendo "dbus-launch" davanti a "gnome-settings-daemon" e per ora va tutto benone. quindi metto risolto, sperando che i problemi siano definitivamente passati con questa modifica. grazie a tutti per la disponibilità. :)

in realtà la sessione dbus dovresti allacciarla ad openbox stesso. Ad esempio se avvii il wm da .xinitrc dovresti lanciarlo così

ok, ho sistemato anche questo e adesso funziona tutto a dovere, anche l'ibernazione e la sospensione si sono attivati su gnome-power-manager, nonché tutti i tasti usati con il FN. mi rimane però un fastidioso problema che non so sia collegato sempre a dbus o a gnome-settings-daemon. lo scrivo qua per ora, se poi mi consigliate di aprire un nuovo topic provvederò. in pratica dopo un po' che uso il pc, il touchpad si blocca e non c'è verso di sbloccarlo se non premendo CTRL+ALT+F1 e facendo ripartire la sessione di openbox. aggiungo inoltre che il mouse esterno usb invece funziona sempre. non so se il problema dipenda dagli innumerevoli crash di gnome-settings-daemon; difatti molto spesso, quando avvio firefox solitamente, crasha e devo farlo ripartire a mano.

Scusa se rispondo ora...cmq obkey nn ha un'opzione particolare per poter spegnere il monitor, ma ti serve solo x configurarti un'azione in base ad una determinata combinazione di tasti. Lo schermo chiuso viene preso in considerazione dal sistema cm se tu hai premuto un particolare tasto rapido del notebook, quindi basta aggiungere una nuova combinazione e quando è in'attesa dell'input da tastiera chiudi lo schermo e lo riapri in modo ke prenda cm combinazione 'il tasto schermo chiuso', poi associ al tasto rapido appena acquisito un Action Execute con il comando

ma il mouse lo hai attaccato dopo il blocco del touchpad? Se così fosse attaccalo dall'inizio, e quando il touch si blocca posta le ultime 40 righe di dmesg

grazie delle delucidazioni, ma alla fine sono riuscito a risolvere tutto semplicemente modificando il file .xinitrc, ora funziona tutto quanto.

ho fatto come mi ha consigliato 4javier, cioé ho acceso il notebook con il mouse esterno già inserito, dopodiché mentre usavo arch openbox ad un certo punto, come al solito, il touchpad ha smesso di funzionare. allora ho aperto un terminale e digitato questo:

Non noto nulla di inerente il touchpad, ma le ultime righe sembrano sintomo di un problema diffuso su alcune configurazioni col timer hpet. Prova a disabilitarlo aggiungendo alla riga del kernel

ho provato ad inserire nella riga del kernel (credo che tu intendessi la riga nel menu.lst di grub immagino) la dicitura "hpet=disable", ma il mouse si è piantato ancora una volta. ho ricontrollato in dmesg, ma non mi pare ci sia nulla riferito al mouse o al touchpad. sinceramente non ho idea di cosa possa essere. uso arch con gnome anche e non ho mai avuto un problema simile. :(

un orologio hardware che ha alcuni noti problemi...
Comunque non pare essere in relazione col tuo problema. Non ti sei accorti se il blocco si verifica in situazioni particolari? Un determinato periodo trascorso dall'avvio, o di inattività del touchpad, all'inserimento di qualche periferica...

no, purtroppo non mi pare ci sia nulla in comune tra i vari blocchi, neanche il tempo di uptime. vabeh pazienza, vorrà dire che userò openbox solo quando sono a casa col mouse esterno. magari un futuro aggiornamento risolverà il mio problema. grazie per l'aiuto e chiedo scusa per l'off topic a chiunque legga.

ho risolto tutto eliminando definitivamente gnome-settings-daemon e impostando il touchpad come da wiki, modificando il file 10-synaptics.conf presente in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d. ora gestisco i temi gtk con lxappearance e non ho più nessun crash dovuto a gnome-settings-daemon e il mouse funziona alla perfezione! :)
